From June 28 to July 5, 2026, the capital of the Gironde region came alive with the third edition of the Betclic Bordeaux Premier Padel. One of the most anticipated events on the international circuit lived up to all expectations. For one week, the Patinoire de Bordeaux Mériadeck was transformed into a veritable arena, with its ice surface converted into three superb competition courts.
A major Padel tournament on the French scene
Along with the legendary Roland-Garros, Bordeaux is one of only two French stops on the international Premier Padel tour. The event received exceptional media coverage (broadcast on Canal+ and beIN Sports) and was watched by millions of viewers around the world.
This P2-level tournament pulled out all the stops this year, with high stakes for the players:

- FIP Points Awarded: 500 points for the winners (men and women)
Beyond the athletic competition, the event stood out for the overall experience it offered the public. With its relaxation areas, musical entertainment, and “after-work” evenings celebrating Bordeaux wine and cuisine, the city is reaffirming its goal: to make Padel an unmissable highlight of its summer.
Men’s Results: Coello and Tapia Win the “Superclásico”
The men’s final treated the audience to the now-classic “Superclásico” of the Padel world. The matchup pitted Arturo Coello and Agustín Tapia (world No. 1s and defending champions) against their longtime rivals, Alejandro Galán and Federico Chingotto (No. 2s). An exact repeat of the 2025 final!
The match was just as spectacular. After being pushed hard—and even dominated—for much of the match by a Galán in top form and a tenacious Chingotto, Coello and Tapia once again proved their resilience. They ultimately turned the match around in three hard-fought sets: 5-7, 7-6(4), 6-2.
This hard-fought victory further solidifies their undisputed status as the best doubles team on the men’s tour.
Women’s Results: A Huge Surprise from Icardo and Jensen
The women’s draw at the 2026 Bordeaux Premier Padel was the scene of a major upset. While Gemma Triay and Delfi Brea (world No. 1) were the overwhelming favorites, boasting a 9-0 head-to-head record, it was ultimately the duo of Tamara Icardo and Claudia Jensen (No. 5 seeds) who lifted the trophy.
Their run in Bordeaux was nothing short of flawless. After defeating formidable pairs such as Iglesias/Osoro, Fernández/Araújo, and then Josemaría/González in the semifinals, Icardo and Jensen capped off their masterpiece by beating Triay and Brea in the final (6-3, 1-6, 1-6).
This is Tamara Icardo’s very first title on the Premier Padel tour, capping off a dream week in Gironde.
The rapid rise of Padel in France continues
This successful third edition highlights Padel’s growing prominence in the French sports scene. The sport is experiencing spectacular growth, as evidenced by the number of registered players, which is surging by nearly 30% each year.
With its intimate atmosphere around the center court and excellent indoor playing conditions, Bordeaux is firmly establishing itself on the global Padel scene. It’s the perfect appetizer ahead of the next major French event: the Paris Major, scheduled for September.
Plans are already in place for a fourth edition in Bordeaux, which promises yet another round of exciting twists and turns and top-notch competition!
